Clear Victory Against Carl Zeiss Jena

Second game, second win: Our Himmelblau (Sky Blue) team secures a solid 3-0 victory in Jena.

It was a turbulent day on Sunday: Due to a traffic accident involving our team bus, the team arrived late in Jena, and the kickoff had to be delayed. But no need to worry: Luckily, everyone walked away with just a scare, and by half-past two, everyone was ready and fit, both on and off the pitch.

And so, the game began: A beautiful setting surrounded by mountains, blazing sunshine, artificial turf... Regional League North-East in early September. Under scorching heat, FC Viktoria Berlin faced FC Carl Zeiss Jena’s U20 team at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld on Sunday.

Goal Right Before Half-time

The first half was uneventful, in line with the hot conditions. Jena showed some determination but failed to create any dangerous attacks. FC Viktoria, on the other hand, had opportunities in front of the opponent’s goal, especially through Nina Ehegötz. However, she missed two great chances to open the scoring (19’, 32’).

But just before the end of the first half, the breakthrough came: After a solo run covering almost half the pitch, Louise Trapp took a shot. Initially, the ball bounced off the inside post, and the Jena goalkeeper made a strong save on the rebound but the third attempt went in (40’) – 1-0 for FC Viktoria.

Urbanek and Künzel Double Strike – FC Viktoria Berlin Secures the Win

In the second half, the game became even clearer: Jena barely made any forward moves into the opposition’s half. Even though the game remained somewhat scrappy with FC Viktoria missing several chances. After a while, the second goal arrived: Kim Urbanek, completely unmarked in front of Jena’s goal, coolly finished after being nicely set up by Leyila Aydin (69’).

Five minutes later, we witnessed another beautiful combination, again involving Urbanek, this time paired with Trinity Künzel. In the end, Künzel slotted the ball into the net (74’). Shortly before the final whistle, and not long after coming on as a substitute, Eunice Beckmann narrowly missed the post (89’). Otherwise, all the players were visibly affected by the intense sun.

Cup Match Against Turbine Potsdam Coming Up
