Lots of back and forth, strong saves by Tschudin, and a deciding penalty kick: FC Viktoria Berlin lost 0-1 (0-0) in their first away game of the season.
As against Andernach the week before, the game started with high pressing from the opponents. But against Ingolstadt, our Viktoria managed to deal with it better and created counterattacking opportunities. Aylin Yaren and Leyila Aydin came close to the Ingolstadt goal, but it didn't get too dangerous.
Ingolstadt also got into the Sky Blues' box, and as time went on, they became more dangerous. Schanzerin Annika Kömm broke through on the left after a long pass, but her low cross in front of the goal found no teammates (9'). Our goalkeeper Michèle Tschudin just managed to tip a direct free kick past the post (10'), and shortly afterwards it was Kömm again with a low cross in front of the goal, which this time narrowly missed a teammate (12').
Back and forth in Ingolstadt
The game went back and forth: Just when it looked like the Ingolstadt players had the upper hand, Viktoria regained control, and vice versa. Viktoria had the next big chance with a direct free kick from the left, but Ingolstadt cleared it at the left post (29').
Until the break, the action took place mainly in the center, but shortly before the half-time whistle, Maya Hahn and Pia Metzker were once again in the Ingolstadt penalty area, with Metzker's shot narrowly blocked by the Ingolstadt defense (42').
Tschudin's strong saves for FCV
Ingolstadt came out of the dressing room a little more courageous, with Laura Frank narrowly missing the goal from distance (47'). It was a competitive second half, with both teams looking for opportunities to get to the goal, but it wasn't until the last fifteen minutes of the match that things got really dangerous again. Ingolstadt came down the left again, this time close to the post, looking for the finish - but Tschudin was there with a strong save (73')!
Despite more clear chances for Ingolstadt, the score remained 0-0 for a long time. For our Viktoria team, the substitutions of Nina Ehegötz and Kim Urbanek brought new energy, and both had their chances (79'), but narrowly missed the goal. So no goals in Ingolstadt – until ten minutes before the end: Sarah Stöckmann fouled Nina Penzkofer in the box, and the penalty for Ingolstadt was a no-brainer. Anna-Lena Fritz stepped up and confidently placed the ball in the left corner (81').
First defeat of the season for FCV
While Tschudin prevented a second goal with more strong saves at the back, FCV threw everything forward in the final minutes. But Alisa Grincenco, for example, sent the ball just over the bar from a scramble in the box (87'), so that despite a great performance in Ingolstadt, the score remained 0-1.
Next week, on September 7, FCV will be back at home at the Lichterfelde Stadium looking for their first home win of the season. FSV Mainz 05 will be the visitors, with kickoff at 2 p.m.!
