Efficiency beats pressure: Viktoria takes three points from Andernach

An intense away game, a lot of headwind – and in the end, a calm victory: FC Viktoria Berlin wins 2-0 (1-0) at SG 99 Andernach and ends the calendar year with three points.

Early pressure, late reward

Viktoria got off to a better start and put the hosts under pressure early on. They had two dangerous chances in the 9th minute, but Andernach managed to clear the ball. Viktoria remained calm, defended with concentration – and then struck coldly: in the 18th minute, Anna Ursem sent Alisa Grincenco on her way with a perfectly timed long ball. Our number 8 remained cool in front of goal and slotted the ball into the far corner – 0-1 to us!

Viktoria then got more control of the game, repeatedly combining dangerously up front and could have increased their lead: Urbanek hit the crossbar (21st minute), Leyila Aydin failed to beat the opposing keeper in the 34th minute after a solo run. At half-time, the score remained a narrow but deserved lead.

An open second half - and the decisive goal

Viktoria made two substitutions at half-time: Maya Hahn came for Henrike Sahlmann, and Sarah Abu Sabbah replaced Kim Urbanek. Both teams came out of the dressing room at a fast pace, the game became more open, and Andernach pushed for the equalizer at times, but fortunately for us, they lacked the cutting edge.

Viktoria continued to apply pressure, made further substitutions, and kept their cool. In the 73rd minute, the breakthrough came: Victoria Ezebinyuo broke through on the right and passed to Maja Wasiak, who decisively put the ball in the net to make it 2-0!

In the final stages, Andernach looked the better side but couldn't find a way past the solid Viktoria defense. Several shots and set pieces didn't change anything – Viktoria held on to their lead with confidence.

Conclusion & Outlook

FC Viktoria Berlin put in a mature, focused performance for long periods of the game, holding their own even when under pressure and remaining consistent in front of goal at crucial moments. Following our away win in Andernach, we remain in 6th place in the table and head into the winter break on the back of a strong performance.
