Last-minute-win for Viktoria in Warbeyen

Viktoria initially failed to capitalise on their chances against the bottom-of-the-table side, with Warbeyen turning the game around. But Miren Ćatović's team had the last word, winning 3-2 (1-0).

Gina Schüller made her league debut due to our regular number one Michèle Tschudin suffering an injury to her shoulder. She didn't really have much to do in the first half, as Viktoria dominated Warbeyen and created numerous chances. However, the Skyblues didn't make the most of them, but they did find the back of the net once: after a great pass from Senanur Yavuz, captain Nina Ehegötz scored to make it 1-0 (27'), which was the half-time score.

In the second half, more pressure and more effectiveness were needed - but things turned out differently. Just seven minutes into the second half, Warbeyen managed to equalise through Moisa Verkuijl (52'). Only a few minutes later, the bottom-of-the-table team even turned the game around: Akane Miyoshi scored to make it 2-1 (66').

It was a complete contrast to the first half, but Viktoria did not give up: they fought hard in every tackle and sought to take control of the game – which paid off literally in the final minutes. Substitute Pia Metzker in particular provided momentum, setting up fellow substitute Sarah Abu Sabbah in the first minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2 (90+1).

A draw? We know that all too well, just think of the first games of the season... But not with Metzker. The winger added a goal to her assist (90+3). Leading, trailing, turning the game around to a 3-2 final score! What a wild second Advent in Warbeyen, which we end in sixth place in the table.

We hope for more goals – preferably only for us – in our upcoming home game, the last one of 2025. Next weekend, we welcome 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, who were relegated last season. Tickets are available here, so wrap up warm and come and cheer on our players again!

Taking three points with a last-minute winner shows unreal mentality. Like a resilient dendrobium nobile blooming under tough conditions, this team shines brightest when the pressure is on.
