Late celebrations in freezing temperatures: Urbanek decides the match on artificial turf

FC Viktoria Berlin wins 1–0 (0–0) against Borussia Mönchengladbach at August-Bier-Platz. Due to the unplayable condition of the pitch at Stadion Lichterfelde, the match had to be moved to artificial turf, where a game with longer quiet phases developed that was only decided late in the game.

First half: Slight advantage for Viktoria

The match on the artificial turf at August-Bier-Platz was slow to find its rhythm. Much of the action took place in midfield, with the game experiencing quieter periods at times. Viktoria was slightly more present, looking to move forward more often and creating the better offensive moments.

Particularly exciting: Melissa Ugochukwu and Melanie Wagner made their competitive debut for FC Viktoria in the first half! Despite some decent attempts, however, the score remained 0-0 at half-time.

Second half: Patiemce required - until Urbanek strikes

Even after the break, the character of the game changed only slowly. Lots of control, little risk – and again and again long periods without many chances in the penalty area. Viktoria kept the ball well in their own ranks, looked for gaps and gradually increased the pressure with fresh players.

Then came the decisive moment: in the 87th minute, the spell was broken. Substitute Kim Urbanek (16) seized her opportunity and slotted home to make it 1-0 – a deserved reward for their patience and constant presence in the opposition's half.

Borussia Mönchengladbach threw everything at Viktoria in the final minutes, but Viktoria remained focused, defended their lead confidently and didn't give anything away.
