Meyer with a brace: Viktoria wins 2:1 in Sand

On matchday 6 of the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga, FC Viktoria Berlin won 2:1 (1:0) away at SC Sand, securing their fifth competitive win in a row!
350 spectators on the tall-grass pitch in Willstätt: coach Miren Ćatović's team took on the hosts, who had still been waiting for their first home points of the season. New in the squad: Chantal Schouwstra, who wore number 20 and went straight into the starting line-up. There were reunions on both sides – Sand's Melissa Ugochukwu was under contract with Viktoria until this summer, while on the Berlin side, among others, assistant coach Noah Veilandics and Sarah Klotz both have a Sand past.
Meyer scores early
Viktoria got off to a good start in the match and announced themselves with the first shot on goal as early as the 2nd minute. The pressure paid off quickly: in the 8th minute Christin Meyer scored to give them an early lead. Sand did have set pieces and corners on their side afterward, but no really clear chances came of it.
Sand get into the game better before the break
Toward the end of the first half, the hosts briefly had more of the game and repeatedly put Viktoria under pressure with free kicks. Two yellow cards, for Antonia Halverkamps (32nd) and Katharina Krist (38th), were the result of an intense phase. Shortly before halftime, Viktoria responded with a corner and a free kick (42nd), so it was a narrow 1:0 lead at the break.
Viktoria came out of halftime focused and extended their lead in the 52nd minute: once again it was Christin Meyer who scored, making it 2:0. Sand reacted immediately, bringing on Melissa Ugochukwu for Christina Alp in that same minute. The hosts were rewarded soon after: in the 58th minute Pija Reininger pulled one back.
Viktoria see the lead through
After it became 1:2, Sand pushed forward much more aggressively, looking to attack with greater intensity. Viktoria, however, had the game under control for long stretches and remained dangerous themselves – with corners in the 66th and 81st minutes as well as shots in the 82nd and 91st minutes. Ćatović brought on fresh legs in the closing stages: Nina Ehegötz came on for Senanur Yavuz (63rd), Aneta Polášková for Leyila Aydin (76th), and Maya Hahn for Melina Reuter (85th). After four minutes of stoppage time, the away win was secure. That also means we are now level on points with second-placed VfL Bochum in 3rd place in the table!
Viktoria continues next Saturday (19.09) at home against SGS Essen, kick-off at 2:00 PM at Stadion Lichterfelde. Come along!
Goals:
1:0 Meyer (8')
2:0 Meyer (52')
2:1 Reininger (58')
Starting XI:
Wagner – Ihlenburg, Fürst, Reuter (85' Hahn), Grincenco, Meyer, Krist, Schouwstra, Halverkamps, Yavuz (63' Ehegötz), Aydin (76' Polášková)

Holding on to a 2-1 lead after Sand scored took immense focus. That kind of high-stakes concentration reminds me of pulling off clean drifts in Drift Hunters.
It's interesting that Christin Meyer scored both goals, one early and one right after halftime, which seems to have set the tone for the match. The report mentions Sand pushed harder after pulling one back, yet Viktoria still created corners and shots late on. Do you think that control in the closing stages came more from the substitutions or from Sand running out of ideas?

What a great result for Viktoria, and after following the match, jumping into some IO games sounds like a fun way to relax.
I keep a tab open with Crazyig for when I need a break during work. They have a decent collection of browser games that run smoothly without any lag. The racing and shooting categories are where I usually end up spending most of my time.
foodle may look like a lighthearted food game, but its word challenges can demand plenty of concentration. The combination of vocabulary, deduction, and strategic guessing gives each puzzle a little more bite.
