A bright blue sky over Lichterfelde, 16 degrees, 2,158 spectators — the stage was set for an intense afternoon of football. And that’s exactly what FC Viktoria Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt II delivered. In the end, the team from Lichterfelde secured a narrow but well-deserved 1-0 victory.
A steady start, growing control
The match got off to a disjointed start. Both teams were feeling each other out, and the first fifteen minutes lacked any clear direction — there were chances on both sides, but none found the back of the net.
As the game progressed, however, FC Viktoria Berlin gradually took control. They grew bolder, more assertive in one-on-one situations, and more dangerous in the final third.
The supposed reward followed — but only briefly at first: After a goal for Viktoria, the referees’ team ruled it offside following a consultation. Still 0-0.
Shortly before halftime, another substitution: Henrike Sahlmann came on for Senanur Yavuz (38th minute). The teams headed into the locker rooms with a 0-0 score that reflected the play but was certainly entertaining.
Two disallowed goals — and then Viktoria strikes
The second half was just as intense. Right after the restart, the game remained wide open, with both teams pushing forward.
Then came the déjà vu: In the 52nd minute, Frankfurt scored — but this goal was also disallowed after a brief consultation between the referee and her assistant. So the score remained 0 – 0.
By now, the game had finally shifted: Viktoria pressed forward, playing almost exclusively in the opponent’s half and creating several scoring chances.
In the 64th minute, Trinity Künzel came on for Alisa Grincenco — another boost for the offense.
And then, finally, the breakthrough: Melissa Ugochukwu took a chance in the 73rd minute and scored with a low shot from close range to make it a well-deserved 1-0!
Immediately afterward, Viktoria responded with a triple substitution: Abu Sabbah, Casanovas, and returnee Maja Wasiak entered the game (75th/76th).
In the closing stages, Frankfurt threw everything forward, earning set pieces and creating chances — but the Viktoria defense held firm.
With plenty of commitment, passion, and composure, FC Viktoria Berlin held on to their lead and secured the home victory.
