Successful home opener: FC Viktoria Berlin turns the tables on Meppen!

The first real home league match of 2026 brought plenty of reasons to celebrate at Stadion Lichterfelde: FC Viktoria Berlin secured a 2–0 victory over SV Meppen, taking revenge for the 0–3 defeat in the reverse fixture.

An evenly balanced first half

From the start, the match developed into an intense and hard-fought contest. Both teams looked to move forward but struggled to create clear chances early on. Viktoria repeatedly posed a threat from set pieces: several corners as well as a shot from captain Nina Ehegötz provided the first approaches to the Meppen goal.

Defensively, Viktoria also remained solid, allowing the visitors only a few dangerous moments in front of goalkeeper Melanie Wagner. Overall, the game stayed evenly balanced throughout the first half – and it was therefore no surprise that the teams went into the break with the score still level.

Viktoria reward themselves after the break

After the restart, FC Viktoria Berlin gradually took control of the match – and eventually turned their increasing pressure into goals.

In the 61st minute, Senanur Yavuz finally broke the deadlock, finding the net with a long but precise shot.

Viktoria continued to dictate the game from that moment on. Time and again, the team created momentum through set pieces and quick ball recoveries in midfield.

The next goal followed twelve minutes later: Kim Urbanek, who had just come off the bench, was perfectly positioned in the 73rd minute and made it 2–0 for FC Viktoria Berlin.

Viktoria see the game out

Viktoria remained composed in the closing stages and did not allow anything more to happen. The defense stayed focused while Meppen mainly tried to get back into the match through set pieces.

However, Viktoria defended attentively and managed the lead confidently until the end.

After 95 minutes, the final whistle confirmed a 2–0 home victory for FC Viktoria Berlin and three more points on the board.

With the win, Viktoria remain in 5th place in the 2. Bundesliga. The next match is already coming up next Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 14:00, when Viktoria travel away to face SC Sand.

This was such an exciting recap I really enjoyed how the post highlights FC Viktoria Berlin’s successful home opener and the way they turned the tables on Meppen, because it not only describes the scoreline but also gives a real sense of momentum, energy and team spirit throughout the match. Reading about how Viktoria responded after going behind driven by strong teamwork, tactical adjustments and relentless effort makes the win feel even more satisfying rather than just routine. It’s clear that the coach’s strategy and the players’ determination paid off, especially as they managed to claw back the game and take control in front of their own fans, which must have been an incredible atmosphere at the stadium.
