Three Goals In Four Minutes, A Crushing Victory Against Berolina Mitte.

Berolina Mitte Visits Stadion Lichterfelde

Berolina Mitte, who had already been relegated, were the guests at the Lichterfelde stadium on Sunday.  FC Viktoria had already secured second place in the Region League Northeast and that’s exactly how it looked on the pitch.

In the first match, after it was announced that coach Dennis Galleski would remain on the sidelines next season, the roles were clearly defined. Berolina defended with everything they had, battling fiercely for every ball. Nevertheless, Viktoria had no trouble repeatedly breaking into dangerous areas.

Chance After Chance, Urbanek To The Rescue

Through Nina Ehegötz on the left, Leyila Aydin on the right, or Marlies Sänger through the centre, the only thing missing were the goals. In the first minute, captain Sänger missed with a header (1’), and just a few minutes later, another header from her went wide (8’). Chances came in quick succession through the energetic Sänger, Stephanie Gerken (10’), Kim Urbanek (12’), and Aydin (15’).

After twenty minutes, it was Ehegötz who finally put an end to the wasted chances: once again, the sky-blue players were attacking Berolina’s penalty area, and finally, Urbanek managed to put the ball into the net (21’).

Berolina’s Defence Broke

After Urbanek’s goal, a minute later, Sänger doubled the lead after a solo run past Berolina keeper Alisha Tanoku (22’), and Aydin added another goal after a beautiful cross from the left (24’). Three goals in four minutes, an impressive tally!

The second half was a fairly relaxed summer Sunday kickabout: FC Viktoria Berlin controlled the game with ease, playing some lovely passing football but without pushing as hard towards goal. However, FCV still missed a few chances (e.g., Sänger, 59’). The victory, though, was never in doubt. In the final quarter-hour, Viktoria struck quickly again: Sänger headed in from a right-sided corner to complete her brace (73’). After Natalia Stulin made it 5-0, there was another brace, Nina Ehegötz scored twice within three minutes (82’, 85’), with her second goal coming after a lovely assist from Trinity Küntzel.

Cup Final in Sight

Even before this win, it was clear: Viktoria’s second-place finish was secured. However, it was now certain that first place was out of reach. 1. FC Union Berlin won their match against Turbine Potsdam II, which means the Union side are mathematically guaranteed to win the championship.

Next Sunday, May 19th, the cup final against those Union players awaits. Kickoff is at 3 PM, tickets are available exclusively online via the Berlin Football Association's website. We can’t wait to see you there!
