Viktorias continues to draw against SC Sand

Sixth game, fifth draw: FC Viktoria Berlin drew 1-1 (1-1) against league leaders SC Sand, adding to our points tally.

Things got off to a great start for Viktoria: In grey October weather, our Skyblues started the game against the league leaders with plenty of pressure - and were quickly rewarded. Eunice Beckmann made a strong debut in the starting line-up, shooting from the edge of the penalty area. Sands Goalkeeper Jule Baum had no chance against the precise and powerful shot, which gave Viktoria a 1-0 lead (3').

Viktoria kept it up: Captain Nina Ehegötz also tested Baum with a dangerous shot after great preparation by Beckmann (7'), Alisa Grincenco had an attempt, which SC cleared for a corner, but nothing came of it (12'). In summary: Our Viktoria dominated the game against the league leaders! However, there was room for improvement in terms of converting chances.

Sand equalises

Sand took a while to get into the game, with a few misplaced passes. However, our opponents improved as the game went on, and so did their goal tally: After putting pressure on Viktoria and winning the ball about ten metres in front of the box, Moemi Ishibuchi got on the ball and slotted it into the bottom left corner from the right (28').

Immediately after the equaliser, Viktoria showed no signs of weakness, with Aylin Yaren chipping a shot at goal, but goalkeeper Baum made a confident save (30'). After a short break, during which FCV goalkeeper Michèle Tschudin received treatment following a collision with an opponent (31'), the tide turned slightly, with Sand taking more control and looking more alert and attentive than before. However, the score remained 1-1.

Yavuz debuts for Viktoria

After the break, it was again Viktoria who sought to attack the goal, with the first chance proving dangerous, but Sand's goalkeeper Baum was able to scrape the ball off the post (46'). In the course of the second half, the game became more balanced again, with Sand appearing more alert, even in tackles. There were many of these, and extremely intense ones.

It was only towards the end that there were any real chances again: Anna Höfker missed with a header (61'), substitute Senanur Yavuz shot just past the goal on her Viktoria debut (73'), Laura Casanovas aimed too high (81'). Sand also had another shot on goal, but their long-range effort was no problem for Tschudin (86'). The best chance of the game probably fell to Yaren, who was unable to convert a pass from Kim Urbanek at the right post, sending the ball parallel to the goal line (90').

Onwards and upwards

So it ended 1-1, a result we are very familiar with in Lichterfelde. But before we get too sad about it, let's remember that this is a point against the league leaders and the best attack in the league!
